Jay Watch

Marion Audubon is near the largest and most stable Florida Scrub Jay population in the state and some very interesting things are beginning to happen with translocations. John Schaefer, President of Marion Audubon, has been very successful in sharing the Jay Watch opportunity with folks in your area and has lined up a number of registrations for our training on May 12th. If you are interested in participating in this as a chapter collaboration, contact http://fl.audubon.org/get-involved/jay-watch. This is a program appealing to all ages.
Jacqui Sulek, Chapter Conservation Manager,Jay Watch Coordinator

Breeding Bird Atlas

This is a 3 Year Collaborative Project of Florida Audubon & Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. Marion Audubon Society joined the project in May 2014 by hosting the 2014 Florida Ornithological Society Spring Meeting. This group of experts, assisted by local chapter members performed the Breeding Bird Count for the grid that encompasses the Ocala National Forest.

2015 Counts in Marion County begin in late April and continue thru the summer. The goal is to provide consistent data to the ongoing research by FWC.

2016 is the Last Year for the Project – Don’t miss the opportunity to participate as a Citizen Scientist. It might not come around again in your life-time or while you are living in this Great Florida Birding Place.
